Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is a common and contagious virus that usually causes mild symptoms 1. However, RSV can be serious in older adults, including those with certain underlying conditions 2-5.

Based on your results, being 75 years old or above and having certain underlying conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma or heart failure (HF) puts you at a higher risk for severe RSV infection compared with those without the condition 2-5.

Symptoms of RSV can range from mild to severe, and sometimes they can last up to 2 weeks; and those older adults and adults living with certain underlying conditions are at higher risk of severe RSV symptoms. 3,9-12
